These instructions illustrate how to configure
Windows 95/98 so that you
can dial the 2 Fords Network modem pool. Since 98 and 95 are similar,
we have
combined the instructions.

56k v.90 & v.92 Illustrated Version
If you know that your computer is already set up to make a dial up connection, proceed to step 6.
1. Introduction
In order to use many of the services available
on the Internet, such as Netscape, email or chat rooms you have
to set up your computer to access 2 Fords Network via a dial-up
phone line. This document will walk you through the steps required
to get your computer successfully connected . These instructions
assume that you only want to access the Internet via 2 Fords Network,
and that you are not connected to some other type of local area
network (LAN).
In other words, you use a stand-alone machine at home or office
and wish to connect to the internet over a phone line with a modem.
2. Hardware Requirements
Here at 2 Fords Network we have 56K - V.90 and V.92 modems. Generally speaking modems slower than 14.4k aren't sufficient for graphical type applications like Netscape.
3. Software Requirements
Windows 95/98 comes with all the networking
software you need to get
access to 2 Fords Network. It comes with a Telnet and FTP client,
both located in the windows directory. Once you have established
a connection to the
2 Fords Network, you can then easily transfer (FTP) applications
such as Netscape to your machine.
