Double Click the My Computer Icon on your desktop.
Choose and double click the Dial-up Networking Icon.
Now one of two things will happen. 1st. You will get a connection wizard
or 2nd. You will see make new connection.
If you get the connection wizard just follow the instructions.
If you see make new connection just double click the Icon and follow
the instructions.
In ether case on the first screen type in the name of the computer
you are dialing, example "2fordsNetwork" or "FordPub" if you see a modem
is present in the select a modem box there is no need to configure, so
hit the next button. On this screen type in the area code and phone number
to the computer you are dialing (Note If you want to you can leave out
the area code) recommended especially for those of you whom live in Ingleside!
Now click next, and click finish. Now you have a new Icon in the window,
click it one time to highlight it, now click file and slide down to properties
and click. In the new window choose the Server Types tab. Take out the
check mark on log on to Network leave the check mark in enable software
compression and TCP/IP no other check marks should be present. Now click
OK. Highlight your new Icon once again and click connections and slide
down to settings and click. In the new window put a check mark in Redial,
tell it to try 40 times at 2 second and 0 minutes choose OK. One last step,
with your new Icon still highlighted click file and slide down and click
create a short cut choose yes. Now you are ready to close out Dial-up networking
and My Computer windows. You should see a new Icon on your desk top that
looks like the one you just made. Double click the new Icon on your desktop
and put in your user name and password (remember to have your caps lock
turned off)! Then click connect. Once you have made the connection find
and double click your internet Icon it will most likely look like one of
these two on your desktop.
