All about your FTP
(file transfer protocol) program...


Uploading files to the 2 Fords Network FTP server is incredibly EZ. In general, the process is pretty much the same no matter which method  you use. Below are the methods.


The two common types of FTP programs graphical variety and command line ones.  Fetch is a popular FTP program for Macs, while WS-FTP is a popular FTP program for PC's.

This overview covers the specifics of using FTP programs, and command line FTP program you use:

The host name of the 2 Fords Network FTP server is: 70.250.18.209

Log on using your user name and password. Do not specify a folder or personal folder, HTML files you have

Using Netscape 2.0. or higher...

Using Command line ftp programs...

If you are using a command line oriented FTP program, the connection

this:

ftp.al3.2fords.net

Connected to ftp.al3.2fords.net/foldername

Now enter your username

Name: yourusername

Now enter your password.

Password: your password

230 User 'USER' logged on.

ftp> bin

200 Type set to 'I' (IMAGE aka BINARY).

ftp> put FILE

The first command, 'bin', puts your FTP program into 'binary transfer

transferring HTML files, this doesn't matter, but if you are transferring

very important to transfer it as a BINARY file instead of an ASCII file.

Common Problems

If people are being asked for a password when they view your page, the
