When traveling or on vacation you may sometimes need to access your email fro another computer. There are three different ways to do this.
1: Use Telnet to manage your email account. If the computer you are using is a Windows 98 or better, then it came with a program called Telnet. To use this program to access or manage you email account see the instructions in the 2 Fords help guides on Telnet.
2: Set up an email account on the computer you are using to access 2 Fords. Help guide #4 has the instructions for setting up an email account for just about any email program. The only difference in setting up a computer from outside the 2 Fords area is that you will not be able to send mail through our servers. If you are using a friend's computer, ask them what their SMTP server address is and substitute that for the Mail2.2fords.net which is our outgoing mail server. The pop 3 server will be the mail.2fords.net. Don't forget to delete the new account you made in their email program. Note: if you are goingn to use Netscape as your email program, then before you run Netscape you will need to run the profile manager. Push Start, go up to Programs, across to the Netscape Folder, across to the Utilities folder, and click on Profile Manager. Set up an account using your user name and password. When you run Netscape the profile manager will come up asking you which profile you wish to use, choose the new one you just set up. Remember the instructions for accessing our mail from anywhere the world is the same as in our help guides #4 with the only exception being the outgoing mail server.
3. Use a web based email reader. There is a site on the internet http://www.thatweb.com which will let you read email from any email server in the world. It's free, there's no sign-up, and the only thing you need to enter will be your email address and password. If you want to respond to emails you are being set, do not use this method, you will need to use method #2 and set up an email account on the computer you are using.
